Jamie Lee Curtis will receive the Society of Camera Operators’ (SOC) 2020 Lifetime Achievement Awards President’s Award, the organization said.
The President’s Award recognizes an “extraordinary body of work extraordinary body of work and collaboration and commitment to the art and craft of camera operating,” the SOC has explained. Curtis most recently appeared in Knives Out in front of a camera operated by Dale Myrand, SOC, himself a nominee for the group’s Camera Operator of the Year.
“We are honored to present this award to such an iconic, talented, and truly brilliant professional as Jamie Lee Curtis,” said SOC President George Billinger III in a prepared statement. “Her work has inspired so many of us and we are appreciative for all of her extraordinary contributions to the business and the creative community at large.”
Other SOC Lifetime Achievement Award-winners this year include Natalie Portman (Governor’s Award), Steven Poster, ASC (Distinguished Service Award), Colin Anderson, SOC (Camera Operator), Dave Levisohn (Camera Operator, Live & Non-Scripted), J “Moose Howery (Mobile Camera Platform Operator), Heather Norton (Camera Technician), Frank Masi (Still Photographer) and Sony’s Rialto Venice Extension System (Technical Achievement).
Also announced at the SOC Awards will be the Camera Operator of the Year in film and television categories. The film nominees include Sam Ellison (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), Craig Haagensen, SOC (Motherless Brooklyn), Geoff Haley, SOC (Joker), David Luckenbach, SOC (Ford vs Ferrari), and Myrand. Nominees in the television category are Chris Cuevas (Watchmen), Mitch Dubin, SOC (Legion), Jim McConkey, SOC (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Jeff Muhlstock, SOC (Mr. Robot), and Sean Savage, ACO, SOC (Game of Thrones).
The SOC Lifetime Achievement Awards are set to be presented January 18 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel.
